  • Anna found a North American Wheel Bug behind the learning center. They are called “wheel bugs” due to their serrated crest that in profile, looks like a half of a wheel or gear. No other local insect has such a structure, so the ‘wheel’ allows this species to be readily identified. These bugs are also large – nearly 1 ½ inches in length in mature adults. Oh - and don’t pick them up – they bite!
