October 2024 – Game Camera Highlights
The month of October brought Carolina Wildlands some familiar faces we have not seen for a while. After not seeing a skunk since early September, one finally walked by the last week of October. Once again, we saw many White-tailed deer and were able to identify the last fawn of the season. This month the Red Foxes were seen six separate times while the Gray Fox was seen four times.
Bobcats, Opossums, Eastern Gray Squirrels, and Fox Squirrels were seen frequently as expected. Many Northern Raccoons visited our camera locations in small groups and the Turkeys were sure to make themselves seen. A coyote was spotted carrying grass in their mouth which they could be eating as a part of their diet or carrying to one of their dens.
With our bird species caught on camera for the month, there was a Red-tailed Hawk who spent a few minutes resting in front of the camera. We also saw Brown Thrashers, Great Blue Herons, Blue Jays, Turkey Vultures, and Northern Flickers.
