June 2026 Game Camera Study

June continued the busy summer season on the property, with wildlife activity remaining high across the game cameras. White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) were once again the most frequently detected species, and fawn observations increased throughout the month. The game cameras recorded 76 fawn detections throughout June, representing repeated sightings of fawns across multiple cameras and weeks as fawning season reached its peak.

Raccoons (Procyon lotor), Virginia Opossums (Didelphis virginiana), and Eastern Cottontails (Sylvilagus floridanus) continued to be regularly documented across multiple camera locations. Coyotes (Canis latrans) and Bobcats (Lynx rufus) were also detected throughout the month, demonstrating the continued presence of predators across the landscape.

Several notable captures were recorded during June, including multiple does accompanied by fawns, a Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus), Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias), Northern Bobwhite (Colinus virginianus), and a sequence showing raccoons interacting near one of the cameras. An American Beaver (Castor canadensis) was also detected during the month, continuing its occasional appearances on the cameras.

As summer conditions settled in and young wildlife became more visible across the property, June provided another valuable look into the seasonal rhythms of the species that call Carolina Wildlands home.
