February 2025 – Game Camera Update

February may have been a short month, but it was filled with wildlife activity at Carolina Wildlands. River Otters were spotted eight times, including in locations where they had not been seen on camera since 2022. Beavers were recorded three times on game cameras, and their increasing activity is evident from the fresh markings and gnawed trees throughout the area.

Coyotes were especially active this month, with over 25 sightings captured on camera. As expected, White-tailed Deer, Bobcats, Opossums, Raccoons, and Turkeys made regular appearances. However, Gray Foxes were recorded only five times, and no Red Foxes were seen this month. With the arrival of spring and warmer weather, we hope to see more fox activity near the game cameras.

Additionally, Skunks were captured on camera five times, with their highest activity occurring in the second week of the month. And of course, Paintjob was spotted 10 times in her usual locations, maintaining her regular presence in the area.

As spring approaches, we are looking forward to an increasement of activity from the wildlife at Carolina Wildlands. We are excited to see what March brings!
