New Year – New Interns

The Carolina Wildlands Foundation Spring 2025 Field Biology Internship program began with orientation on Jan. 31st. We are so pleased to announce that this semester we have 2 interns joining us from Wingate University, and for the first time we have a student joining us from Winthrop University. Danielle Snyman and Aidan Foutz are Sophomore Environmental Biology majors from Wingate. Jamison Sheen is a Senior Conservation Biology Major from Winthrop.

Danielle Snyman, Sophomore
Environmental Biology Major
Dani Snyman is a sophomore at Wingate University and is majoring in Environmental Biology. She has always enjoyed wildlife and wants to pursue a career in Zoology. Her true passions are wildlife conservation and field study. When asked why she was interested in our field biology internship Dani stated “I want to complete a field biology internship at Carolina wildlands Foundation because it is an amazing opportunity that will allow me to get my foot in the door for what I want to do for the rest of my life. Through previous student interns, I have heard many great things about Carolina Wildlands, and I agree with their motto. I have always enjoyed learning about animals and reading about different discoveries being made in nature. If I am awarded this internship, it will be a way that I can be a part of the scientific community that would allow me to make a difference in the world.”

Aidan Foutz, Sophomore
Environmental Biology Major / Psychology and Communication Minor
Aidan Foutz is a sophomore at Wingate University and is also an Environmental Biology major. His dreams are to work in the wildlife conservation field through the National Park Service. Aidan’s interest in environmental biology sparked when he attended a wildlife conservation camp with his AP biology class in high school. At the camp he spent his days collecting samples of different species of aquatic life to test biodiversity. Since then, he has had a passion to help nature thrive. When asked why Aidan was interested in completing an internship with Carolina Wildlands his answer was “I was interested in this internship to further educate myself for the career path I am wanting to take. As well as to gain experience to become a better wildlife conservationist in my career.”

Jamison Sheen, Senior
Conservation Biology Major
Jamison Sheen is a senior at Winthrop University who is majoring in Conservation Biology. He has an open mind when it comes to career goals. He has an interest in land/habitat management, restoration ecologist, or working for the national park service. During his college years, Jamison began to become curious about nature and the earth. His general biology degree quickly turned into conservation biology when he realized his love for the piedmont region. When asked why he was interested in our field biology internship Jamison stated “education is the foundation of change and here I can apply both what I’ve learned in the classroom and discover practical skills in field biology experience. I am hoping to gain a sense of direction for the career path I want to take after having this internship.”
