October 2025 Game Camera Study
October marked the second and final month of this year’s Snapshot USA data collection period, which runs annually from September through October. As expected, many of our regular wildlife visitors made appearances. We recorded over 500 sightings of White-tailed deer, and Northern Raccoons were particularly active throughout the month. Coyotes also made their presence known, appearing frequently on several cameras.
During the third week of October, we captured our final fawn sighting of 2025. At this stage, young deer lose their characteristic spots and are no longer classified as fawns.
Two especially exciting visitors made a return to our cameras this month: the Gray Fox and Red Fox. We had not documented the Gray Fox since early May, and the Red Fox had been absent since December 2024, making their reappearances notable highlights. Another memorable moment came from a sequence showing a Bobcat attempting to catch an Eastern Cottontail. The camera captured the Bobcat crouching low in pursuit—though based on the photos, it appears the rabbit managed to escape.
Our resident favorite, Paintjob, was photographed 14 times, lingering around her preferred areas. As the fall season continues, we’re eager to see what November’s wildlife activity brings.
