March 2025 – Game Camera Study

Spring has officially sprung and the wildlife at Carolina Wildlands Foundation seems to be loving it! This month we spotted a wide variety of bird species through the eyes of our game cameras. These include Northern Flickers, Northern Cardinals, American Robins, Mourning Doves, Red-shouldered Hawks, and Great Blue Herons.

We also saw our usual residents like the White-tailed Deer, Coyotes, Northern Raccoons, and plenty of Eastern Cottontails. Paintjob, the piebald doe, remains with her usual group, still reigning over her territory. There were two sightings of an American Beaver, busy at work building their lodge. River Otters were spotted ten separate times, usually hanging out in the same location.

There were only two Gray Fox sightings this month, and no Red Foxes at all. However, the Turkeys were highly active, and a tom was seen strutting past the game cameras several times.

Our most special guest of the month? A Snapping Turtle! It was captured on camera making its way from a nearby branch of Thompson Creek. We cannot wait to see what kind of wildlife activity April brings!
