February 2026 Game Camera Study
February brought continued winter activity across the property, including a few periods of snow that showed wildlife moving across snow covered ground. White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) remained the most frequently detected species and were commonly observed traveling in small groups. Northern Raccoons (Procyon lotor) were especially active throughout the month, with frequent detections near ponds.
Coyotes (Canis latrans) and Bobcats (Lynx rufus) were detected intermittently, including a sequence of a coyote mid-pounce and a bobcat investigating a camera. Gray Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus), Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes), Virginia Opossum (Didelphis virginiana), Striped Skunk (Mephitis mephitis), Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), and Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger) continued regular winter movement across the property. Overall, February reflected typical late-winter wildlife activity as daylight hours gradually increased. We had a few visits from our birds including a Great Blue Heron, male and female Northern Cardinals, and Dark-eyed juncos.
We are looking forward to spring!
